Courtney Worley, Ph.D., DBSM, ABPP, M.P.H.
Licensed Clinical Psychologist

Dr. Worley is an Alabama native who earned her Ph.D. in clinical psychology with specialized coursework in health and geropsychology from the University of Alabama in 2012. Her internship was completed at The University of Florida Health Sciences Center in medical psychology. Prior to her graduate work in psychology, she completed a master’s degree in public health (M.P.H.) in health behavior at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB). Dr. Worley is board-certified in clinical psychology under the American Board of Professional Psychology. She completed specialized training in behavioral sleep medicine and achieved a Diplomate in Behavioral Sleep Medicine (DBSM) in 2024. She is the co-author of The Nightmare and Sleep Disorder Toolkit: A Workbook to Help you Get some Rest Using Imagery Rehearsal Therapy and Other Evidence Based Approaches from New Harbinger Press (October 2025).

Dr Worley specializes in trauma and sleep disorders in her clinical practice. She is credentialed in Cognitive Processing Therapy, Prolonged Exposure Therapy, and Written Exposure Therapy for PTSD. She is credentialed in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Insomnia, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy for Nightmares, and uses Cognitive Behavioral interventions for hypersomnia, and circadian rhythm disorders. Dr. Worley has experience providing treatment to healthcare providers including mental health clinicians. She enjoys providing training and consultation for other clinicians in Evidence Based Psychotherapies. She is a member of the Society of Behavioral Sleep Medicine and serves on the Public Outreach and Education Committee. She is listed as a certified provider in Insomnia on the International Directory of CBT-I providers. She is a member of the American Psychological Association and Division 12 Society of Clinical Psychology. Dr. Worley has collaborated with the National Center for PTSD (NCPTSD) on projects that include telehealth delivery across the continuum of care. She was a subject matter expert for the development of Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT) Coach 2.0, a mobile app to support CPT delivery. She regularly includes treatment companion apps in care to augment interventions.

She has been a painter for three decades, but returned to the canvas with intention in 2019. Works created from her mindfulness-based fluid art practice can be found in Alabama galleries. She enjoys working out in the gym and hiking in unique landscapes whether it is a caldera in Iceland or the Golden Canyon in Death Valley. Travel allows her opportunities to experience new cultures and foods and come back to her clients rejuvenated!
